Booking a ride on Routta takes a few taps, whether it's a bike across town or a bus for 30 people. This guide walks through every step, plus the safety features worth using on every trip.
1. Set your pickup
When you open the app, Routta finds your location and suggests it as your pickup. If you'd rather be picked up somewhere else, such as the gate of your estate or a landmark nearby, change it before you continue. A precise pickup point saves your transporter time and saves you a phone call.
2. Choose where you're going
Type your destination, or tap Home, Work or one of your saved places. Saving the places you go often makes every future booking faster.
3. Pick your vehicle
Routta shows every vehicle type with its fare and how far away the nearest one is:
- Bike: one commuter, the fastest way through traffic.
- Car: up to four commuters, for everyday trips.
- Bus: 16, 22 or 30 seats for groups. You choose the size next.
- Van: 1, 3 or 5 tons for moving goods. You choose by load.
Not sure which to choose? Our guide to choosing between a bike, car, bus or van covers it.
4. Check the summary and confirm
Review the route, vehicle and fare. Choose how to pay, by card or from your Routta wallet, and add a promo code if you have one. Then confirm.
5. Get matched with a transporter
Routta sends your request to transporters nearby. Each one sees the trip and the fare and decides whether to accept. This usually takes under a minute. If no one is available, the app tells you so you can try again or choose another vehicle type.
6. Meet your transporter and use your PIN
Once a transporter accepts, you see their name, rating, vehicle model and plate number, and you can follow them on the map. You can call or message them from the app.
You also get a 4-digit trip PIN. Check the plate number matches, get in, and only then share your PIN. It confirms you're in the right vehicle with the right person.
7. Share your trip (recommended)
Tap share on the trip screen to send a live link to family or friends. They see your live position, the vehicle and plate, and when you'll arrive. They don't see your fare or your phone number, and the link stops working when you arrive.
8. Arrive, rate and tip
When you arrive, rate your transporter and, if you like, add a tip. Ratings help keep standards high for everyone. If something went wrong, report it from the trip in your history and our support team will follow up.
Booking ahead
You don't have to book at the last minute. Schedule a ride for a set date and time, and for a regular commute, set it to repeat every weekday.
Cancelling
Plans change. Cancelling right after you request is free. If your transporter has already been on the way for a while, or has arrived, a small cancellation fee may apply, and the app shows it before you confirm the cancellation.
